As the book went on you learn about the murder of Clutter but then you also learn about Perry and Dick. It bring to life their characters and that they too were people who went through hard stuff such as Perry being alone. I didn’t really like this because it made it hard for me to follow the reading.
The fact that there is a novel about this murder and a well known book for one, freaks me out. I find it someone sad that these people will not be remembered for who they were but for the murder really. Books based on true crimes sort of splits me because yeah I want to read them and learn about it but then I turn and realize people are making money off sad stories and only remembering these people on the way they died not who they are, I have nothing against the authors of true crime works it just makes me wonder.
